Grace Kelly stood, for a moment, alone in front of the altar of the Saint Nicholas Cathedral, dressed in an ivory tower lace, silk taffeta and thousand of pearls. The bodice, made of 125-year-old lace, fitted her body perfectly, had a delicate banded collar, long sleeves, and was buttoned at the front. The princess's hourglass waist was emphasized by a board cummerband. Her bell-shaped silk-taffeta skirt turned into a three-meter-long train that disgorged precious silk from its wedge-shaped slit. The pearl-studded veil - waist-length at the front and floor-length at the back, hung from a silk cap embellished with a crown-like wreath of wax orange blossoms and pear leaves.
Grace Kelly held a dainty Bible as well as a small bridal bouquet of lilies of the valley in her hand, which was covered with the sumptuous lace from which her dress was made.
